A Brilliant Documentary
Quicksilver Films should win every prize for last night's Dispatches on the Mumbai murders. The most disgusting aspect of what I saw and heard were the recorded telephone conversations of the gunmen with their controllers in Pakistan. The latter were offering tactical advice according to what they were viewing on television. One hopes the British counter-terrorism community is prepared for how to deal with such an eventuality.

Any comments on John Bolton's "The Post-American Presidency"?

Ah, Michael. Good to have you back. I had begun to worry that pondering the ethics of mid-twentieth century warfare might have left you in a state of catatonic silence. Agree with you on the Dispatches film. For me the creepiest aspect of all was the eerily calm manner in which they all - particularly the controllers - spoke. Evidence, if any more was needed, that they really do not see their victims as fellow human beings.
