SHIRAZ MAHER
George Galloway's much anticipated interview with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for Iranian state broadcaster Press TV has finally been broadcast. It is typical of the obsequiousness we've come to expect from Galloway when presented before every kind of genocidal and millenarian maniac - except, of course, the ones who don't have much money.
The interview largely speaks for itself so I'll let readers of this blog watch it for themselves - and it is worth watching in full - but briefly, just some of the issues you'll see Galloway completely brush over are Iran's nuclear ambitions, Ahmadinejad's stolen election and the Green Movement, and the case of a woman being sentenced to death by stoning for ‘adultery'.
Potkin Azarmehr, a prominent Iranian dissident and critic, also notes the following:
At 14:14 he [Galloway] also tries to endear himself to Ahamdinejad by referring to [an] 'attack' he suffered in the House of Commons! The 'attack' he refers to of course is when we asked him how he could go on about the brutality of the UK police when he worked for Saddam and now Ahmadinejad.
Still, what's a bit of relativism between friends eh?

And:
At least we can be grateful to the voters of Poplar and Limehouse for failing to elect Galloway to the Commons.
